Airport lounge access: what is a visit really worth?
Compare included access, paid visits and guest rules before buying a premium product for airport lounges.

The short answer
A membership, an included visit and free guest entry are three different benefits. Price your real travel party, not the headline.
Start with your airport, terminal and travel party
A large lounge network is only useful if it includes a lounge you can reach in the terminal you actually depart from. Check the directory against your usual airports, opening hours and airline terminal before comparing fees.
Admission can depend on capacity and individual lounge rules. Access is not a guarantee of entry, and any reservation charge should be checked separately.
Included access versus discounted visits
Platinum markets airport lounge access as part of its UK card package. Revolut Ultra advertises unlimited access to a network of more than 1,600 lounges. Monzo Max lists discounted lounge visits at £24 each. These are different models: do not describe discounted visits as free access.
The table deliberately does not promise free guests or a fixed number of visits for products where we have not established the complete current access terms.
| Product | Access model | Before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| American Express Platinum | Included lounge benefits; £650 annual card fee. | Check the relevant network, enrolment, supplementary-card and guest rules. |
| Revolut Ultra | Provider advertises unlimited lounge access. | Confirm UK plan price, supported lounges and charges for companions. |
| Monzo Max | Discounted lounge visits listed at £24 each. | Add visit charges to the plan fee; check companions and available lounges. |
| NatWest Premier Reward Black | Unlimited member visits via DragonPass Premier+; £468 annual account fee. | Joint account holders each use their own membership. Guests pay a discounted rate; no exact current amount established here. |
| Santander World Elite Mastercard | LoungeKey access for cardholders and additional cardholders. | Provider lists £24 per guest or child per visit. Check the participating lounge and current conditions. |
Count people-visits, not flights
A return holiday does not automatically mean two usable lounge stops. The return airport may have no participating lounge, or your flight may leave before it opens. A couple entering a lounge together uses two people-visits, subject to the product’s guest rules.
Illustrative arithmetic: two travellers making two usable visits each create four people-visits. At an assumed £24 per person per visit, that is £96 in visit charges, before any account fee. This is a budgeting example, not a confirmed guest price for every product.
Our verdict
For occasional trips, paying for an individual lounge visit can be more sensible than buying a costly annual package. Frequent travellers should compare the full annual cost of their usable visits with a package they will also use for other benefits.
Value a lounge at what you would willingly pay for that visit, not a provider’s headline value. If you already have business-class lounge access or airline status, extra access may add little.
